Let me start off by saying I'm not a writer, but I decided to start a blog in the hopes of reaching other people who want to work virtually to provide a glimpse of hope and support. We all struggle and my hope is by telling my story it will help you realize that you can do it too and to NOT give up.
I couldn't imagine I'd be where I am today. I always thought I'd be a stay-at-home mom. And all thanks to technology, my world expanded in unexpected ways!
I grew up during a time where there was no great technological advancement. When I went to school, there was no internet. later, I got married and became a mother and stayed home with my 3 boys. But I wanted to do more and be more, I wanted to study. And earn my degree. As the access to technology grew, I realized I could get my degree online. After that epiphany, I wondered what else is there in this online world for me?
Thanks to a coach I booked a call with in 2016, she had me realize that I could do anything I set my mind to, she suggested I start working as a Virtual Assistant. I was so excited and received so much clarity from her. In fact, she's the one that helped me land my first VA job.
I was so nervous, my fears and self doubts began kicking in. It was scary and exciting at the same time. I first started working as a social media manager, I would repurpose content and schedule them for clients. I did this for a few months, then I started to take on more responsibilities and I became more confident and less scared.
Through the years, I built my skills and worked on my confidence. I became more than a VA, I had so much to offer with all the experience I gained I decided to offer more support and that's when I decided to up level my game and become an Online Business Manager. Then I decided to take it up a notch and in January of 2021 I signed up for a six month course and I am now a certified Director of Operations.
I have high expectations for myself and I don't quit. It's not easy but you need to remember one thing, Don't give up, stay strong, work through your fears and doubts, we all have them. Get the right support system and keep learning. It will all pay off in the end.
